Application For Change Of Status
APPLICATION FOR CHANGE OF STATUS OF RESIDENCE is the procedure required to change the current residency status.
When a non-Japanese living in Japan tries to end his/her work or study and then engage in an activity that requires a different type of residency status, he/she is required to obtain permission to officially change their residency status.
This procedure is required, for example, when a foreign student staying with overseas education status wishes to change his/her status to "Specialist in Humanities/international service" or "Engineer" in order to obtain employment after graduation.
